  Our Newsletter

Our newsletter is a little different than most other newsletters -- it isn't published at any special interval, but only when I have something I'd like to share with our clients.  One of the great things about having such a broad offering of services is that there are many things that strike me as worth passing along.  Sometimes I'll post synopses of a series of articles that I think our clients might find useful, along with a URL for the full article.  Sometimes I might just write something myself and send it along the wire.

I've included samples of two articles.  The first one appears below, and the second one can be viewed by clicking the more icon at the lower right.  If you want to subscribe you can do that on the second page too.

CABLE MODEM/DSL USERS - DON'T SURF UNPROTECTED

I give a seminar at the local high school sponsored by the Police Department on keeping your kids safe on the Internet.  I found something out at the last one that absolutely shocked me -- some people leave their computers turned on and always connected to the Internet via a cable or DSL modem.  That's just crazy.  With hackers, crackers, worms and viruses proliferating on the Internet, why leave the garage door open and the keys to the Ferrari on the seat?

There's a program out there called a firewall, which was named for the firewall in your car that protects the passenger compartment in the event of a fire.  It protects your computer from malicious and/or unauthorized programs.  And you can get one for free at ZoneLabs.com.  So please, don't surf unprotected.  You could lose everything.

Even worse, someone could take over your computer and use it for malicious things (Knock knock it's Homeland Security kinds of things).  Don't believe me?  Take a look at the Sobig worm that's going around.  Do yourself a favor...Download ZoneAlarm and install it.  Today.  Email questions or comments.
